general faqs

What style(s) do you specialize in?

My style of photography is a blend of fine art and editorial, which means I carefully capture your photos to ensure each photo tells its own story and is magazine-worthy. Rather than aimlessly capturing as many photos as possible, I ensure that each image is thoughtfully produced to extract the emotions that will naturally occur on your special day. I believe in prioritizing quality over quantity in the experience and in the final products.

How will I receive my photos?

All photos are delivered digitally in an online gallery where you can download your photos in both print and web-sized format. The photos will be live on the gallery for 3 months, during which time you can share your gallery with friends and family. Besides admiring your beautiful photos, they will also be able to order prints and download photos directly from your gallery.

Will the photos be retouched and color balanced?

I am so proud to have mastered my post production process to produce the beautiful colors, tones, and textures that is so unique to my portfolio of work. I take pride in a strong editing workflow for consistent colors and tone. All images are carefully inspected before delivery and retouched to perfection.

What gear do you use to photograph? And do you shoot film or digital?

While I encourage you to leave it up to us to worry about the gear, I understand that there may be that curiosity. All sessions are photographed with digital cameras with old school film process and aesthetics in mind. I am proud to have perfected the look of ethereal and luminous portraits while shooting digital developed over years of experience of thoughtful shooting, utilizing the best tools, and being strategic in my post-editing process.

I currently utilize the best medium format and full frame professional cameras and lenses from Fuji, Sony, and Contax. My gear is always maintained and cleaned prior to a session.

WHAT IS THE DEPOSIT AND TOTAL FEE?

A deposit of 50% is required for all sessions. The final payment is due at the date of the session.

HOW LONG AFTER THE SESSION DO WE GET TO SEE THE PHOTOS?

Photos are delivered within 3-4 weeks of your session. During this time, I am working hard to cull, color correct, and retouch each and every portrait to perfection.

SHOULD I RESCHEDULE MY SESSION IF MY BABY IS SICK?

Yes! If one of your children are sick please reschedule your session. Children who are sick typically do not do well in taking instructions and cause your session to be stressful and unproductive. Please reschedule to a later date if your child is sick. Sessions will not be redone if your child does not cooperate during your session.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THERE IS RAIN ON OUR SESSION DATE?

We will make every effort to check the weather forecast a week prior to your session and if rain is projected, a reschedule to a comparable date will be offered.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

Neutral colors are always recommended to help your photos remain timeless and flattering. Understated patterns and textures can be beautiful ways to add interest to your wardrobe. Once booked, a welcome guide will be delivered into your inbox with more tips on what to wear and how to prepare for your session.

WHEN ARE NEWBORN SESSIONS BOOKED?

The best time to book your newborn session is during your third trimester of pregnancy. Once booked, your due date is added onto my calendar so I can make myself available around the anticipated due date. I only take one newborn session per week. Once baby has arrived, I ask for parents to inform me within 3 days to ensure we have enough time to schedule your newborn session.

WHEN AND WHERE DO NEWBORN SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?

The sweet spot for newborn sessions are the 6th to 14th day of baby's arrival so baby is still sleepy enough to pose and swaddle. Sessions will be scheduled on a weekday from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM/1:00 PM (2-3 hours long). I will come to your home for your session to make life more convenient during this very delicate time for your family.

WHY ARE NEWBORN SESSIONS SO LONG?

Your session can take up to 3 hours to allow for enough time to comfort, change, feed, and safely posing baby. A lot of patience is involved with photographing a newborn baby and a longer session allows for a relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone from siblings to parents.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF BABY DURING OUR SESSION?

A sleepy and milk drunk baby is ideal so we can can capture the sweet swaddled and cuddly poses. At this early stage of life, it is rare for babies to be awake but as long as baby is content we will be able to continue our session. There will be plenty of opportunities for baby to take feeding, burping and changing breaks if necessary in between shooting.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A PARENT DURING OUR SESSION?

Please be dressed and ready to work with me to capture family portraits at the first portion of our session. Once those portraits are completed, I spend the second half of the session working with baby for solo portraits. During this time, you can snooze or watch as I'll be doing must of the work. There is also what I like to call a "half time" in the middle of our session where you will get a chance to feed and change baby if necessary.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO OUR SESSION? PROPS?

I have a very minimalistic style to my newborn sessions and believe less is more. I like to keep our session timeless and focus on connections between you and your baby. I do provide neutral toned cheesecloth & swaddles, hats, head bands for you to choose from for your session. I love to capture them in their natural form, without the use of props or unnatural posing. Beyond bringing textiles for baby, I will also be bringing a small and simple backdrop set for baby's solo portion of the session.

WHAT SAFETY MEASURES DO YOU HAVE IN PLACE FOR NEWBORN SESSIONS?

Your family's health and safety matters a great deal to me. I understand how vulnerable it can feel to allow a new person around your precious newborn baby. I am up to date with covid and flu vaccinations. I am also happy to wear a face mask for the entire duration of your session, upon request. Rest assured that all textile materials used for our session are washed with baby friendly detergent before every session. I will also thoroughly wash and sanitize my hands prior and during our session before handling your baby.
